Trump has this. No Republican Can Take Him On In MAGA. No Candidate Can Beat Him Nationally Come Next November, Assuming a Fair Election
With just one month remaining until the critical Iowa caucuses and five weeks until New Hampshire’s primary, Republican candidates are intensifying their efforts on the campaign trail. The latest poll from Iowa, conducted by Iowa State University and Civiqs between December 8 and December 13, surveyed 438 Iowans intending to participate in the Republican Party’s caucuses on January 15, 2024. The poll, with a 6 percent margin of error, reveals that former President Donald Trump maintains a significant lead, with 54 percent of respondents considering him their top choice for the GOP nomination.

Following Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis secures 17 percent support, while former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy capture 15 percent and 7 percent, respectively. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie trails with 4 percent. This data aligns with the results of the highly respected Selzer & Co. poll released on December 11, reinforcing Trump’s dominance in the state.
Dave Peterson, Lucken Professor of Political Science at Iowa State, noted in a news release that “other candidates are running out of time” to catch up with Trump, suggesting limited potential for significant shifts in voter preferences leading up to January. However, Tim Hagle, an associate professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Iowa, contends that there can be substantial movement in the final weeks before the caucuses. Hagle emphasizes that results will hinge on the commitment of each candidate’s supporters to show up and advocate for their choice on caucus night.
