The survey highlighted notable differences between younger and older Americans, particularly in the aftermath of the Hamas attack on Israel.

    According to the survey, a significant 77% of Americans express support for increased military spending. However, only 42% favor an engaged foreign policy, marking a decline from 51% in 2019. Notably, Americans under 30 show a desire for increased engagement and leadership from the U.S., with 29% expressing this viewpoint. While there is consistent support for maintaining overseas bases at 66%, confidence in the U.S. winning against a nuclear power has decreased to 44% from 65% in 2018.

    China is perceived as the greatest nation-state threat to the U.S., with 51% expressing concern, a notable increase from 21% in 2018. The survey also indicates strong majority support (71%) for security assistance, including weapons sales, to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan. However, only 44% of those under 30 would encourage a family member to join the military, compared to 51% overall.

    Despite a decline, the military remains the most trusted institution, with 46% expressing a “great deal of confidence.” However, this confidence drops to 30% among those under 30, reflecting a downward trend since 2018.

    The survey raises concerns about the military’s future recruitment challenges, particularly among the younger generation. The Pentagon’s surveys show that only about 10% of youth aged 16 to 21 are interested in military service. Reasons for the lack of interest include concerns about physical injury, death, and PTSD. The Pentagon is of course run by Leftist nut cases since Obama’s presidency. They therefore ignore the elephant in the room: Racism, DEI, pronoun BS… all reason to NOT enlist.
