Homelessness in the United States witnessed a troubling surge last year, with California and New York grappling with the largest homeless populations, as reported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Urgent action and innovative solutions are imperative, according to Jim Killoran, CEO of The Fuller Center for Housing of Greater New York City, a faith-driven nonprofit dedicated to providing shelter for those in need.
Democrats answer is immigration reform. WTF is that. Make every illegal a citizen and start flying in people from everywhere? Close the border. Quadruple Border patrol. Round up those waiting for their asylum hearing and have them wait in Mexico. THEN you can work on the rest – Tom Power
The escalating homelessness situation in New York, predicting further challenges for the state as immigrants continue to arrive at the U.S. border and migrate to northern states. Blue states are bleeding citizens, except the homeless, who flock to them for the freebies and benefits of not working.
2023 Homeless Population Estimate California: 181,399 New York: 103,200 Florida: 30,756 Texas: 27,377 Homelessness is the only population increasing in Blue States. – Stepehen Moore
HUD’s annual data, specifically the Point-In-Time count report for January 2023, revealed that New York ranked second in the nation with 103,200 homeless individuals. However, it’s essential to acknowledge that these figures offer only a snapshot of the homeless population, often providing an incomplete picture due to the difficulty in accurately locating every homeless individual.

California maintained its position as the state with the highest homeless population, with 181,399 people, constituting 28% of the total U.S. homeless population. Notably, just four states—California, New York, Florida, and Washington—account for over half of the nation’s homeless population.
All of you are being gaslit by Republican Governors shipping migrants to blue states. Let me redpill you on something. They aren’t being sent to prisons. Here in NC there are homeless people in Raleigh. Do you know where they’re from? NYC simply places them on busses and literally drops them off without telling the Governor of NC – The Real Fly

Comparing data from 2022 to 2023, New York and California saw the most substantial absolute increases in homelessness, recording an additional 29,022 and 9,878 individuals, respectively. Meanwhile, New Hampshire and New Mexico topped the list for the highest percentage increases in homelessness, with 52% and 50% rises, respectively. New York and Colorado tied for third place, both experiencing a 39% increase in homeless populations.
There are more homeless people in Los Angeles County than in Texas and Florida combined. In the entire history of the US, homelessness has never been less of a “national problem.” It is primarily a problem of expensive cities in blue states, especially on the West Coast + NYC pic.twitter.com/ARHZuQhqSW

WATCH: Progressive Policies Towards Homeless Are Destroying Blue States – Prager U Video
This is attributed to the worsening homelessness situation in New York to various factors, including the city’s focus on building luxury high-rises, exorbitant housing costs, and the discontinuation of single-room occupancy housing. Additionally, the influx of migrants has added to the complexity of the issue.
Democrats are good at being dirty politicians, but they SUCK at running the country. Vote Red in 2024 and watch everything improve very quickly! – Alex E. linking to an article at BPR
He emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to address homelessness, suggesting innovative solutions such as constructing small houseboats, building tiny homes, converting empty commercial buildings into housing, and utilizing shipping containers for shelter. Killoran urged residents and politicians to brainstorm ideas collectively, drawing parallels to how New York City swiftly built COVID-compliant restaurants during the pandemic. In other words – Socialist solutions that never, ever work. Solutions which always spiral out of control, costing the taxpayers billions with little result.
So many woke, progressive, liberal leftists are just fine with this – until one of them gets mugged, then it`s "Katie bar the door"!

In response to Harvard President Claudine Gay’s recent resignation amid accusations of plagiarism, Killoran proposed that Ivy League schools could allocate a portion of their substantial endowments to build homes for the homeless. He also criticized churches that, despite claiming to care about homelessness, turn away those in need. This is a novel approach that even President Trump has suggested. Accountability is what is important.

While acknowledging the importance of immigration, Killoran stressed the strain it places on an already overburdened system dealing with homelessness among Americans. He called for a reassessment of immigration policies to alleviate pressure on housing resources.
Los Angeles’ far-left mayor Karen Bass promised to address the city’s appalling homeless problem through a campaign she called Inside Safe. After spending $67 million of taxpayers’ money, only 255 out of 46,000 individuals are in permanent housing. Democrats can only remove homeless from the streets for foreign dictators and wealthy oligarchs. When it’s regular Americans stepping over feces and drug needles, tough luck! – Charlie Kirk
Highlighting the plight of senior citizens, Killoran pointed out the increasing number of elderly individuals living on the streets, particularly in areas like New Rochelle, located just outside New York City. Rising prices of utilities, food, and rent have created a challenging situation for seniors, compounding the homelessness crisis.

According to HUD data, homelessness affected approximately 653,100 people across the nation in 2023, marking a 12% increase from the previous year. Killoran underscored the urgency of implementing policies and plans in 2024 to curb the escalating homelessness crisis, encouraging the consideration of diverse and innovative ideas to make a meaningful impact.
Major Points Discussed:

- Homelessness surged in the U.S. in 2023, with California and New York having the largest homeless populations.
- Jim Killoran, CEO of The Fuller Center for Housing, advocates for innovative solutions and a paradigm shift in addressing homelessness.
- New York ranked second in the nation for homeless population, recording 103,200 individuals in 2023, while California claimed the top spot.
- Factors contributing to the homelessness crisis include high housing costs, luxury high-rise construction, and the impact of immigration policies.
- Diverse solutions, such as building tiny homes, converting commercial buildings, and utilizing Ivy League endowments, urging collective efforts to address the issue. – All Socialist answers that will not work, never have worked, and only further erodes the economy

- This is what Democrat policies in action look like. Cities like Seattle spend millions of dollars pretending to care about the homeless crisis but in reality they’re just putting money in the pockets of the homeless advocacy groups that do very little to actually get people off the streets. Until we start holding people accountable for their actions and setting standards again this is only going to get worse. Democrats did this. It’s time for us to fix it. – Ben Bergquam
