    U.S. Reverses Course: Redesignating Houthi Rebels as Terrorists Amid Escalating Tensions in Yemen

    ‘The Iran-backed Houthi rebels are an extremist terrorist organization backed by the world’s leading state-sponsor of terrorism. The Houthis are seeking to disrupt the international economic system, attacking civilian commercial ships, including American vessels, in the Red Sea, and launching rockets at American military service members. If this isn’t the definition of a Foreign Terrorist Organization, I don’t know what it is.   President Biden and Secretary Blinken’s decision to remove the FTO designation on the Houthis was a dangerous example of this administration’s weakness and poor judgement. Their decision today not to redesignate the Houthis as an FTO amounts to continued appeasement of Iran and is emblematic of how this administration has been wrong on nearly every national security issue to date.     BREAKING: YEMENI HOUTHI OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON US CATEGORIZING THEM AS A TERRORIST GROUP. “The American classification will not deter us from our firm position in support of the Palestinians. There is no effectiveness on the ground for Washington’s decision regarding our classification The American classification will not deter us from our support for Palestine. We will not back down from our position in support of the Palestinian people The recent American decision will only increase our adherence to our position in support of the Palestinians. There are no Iranian supply lines to Yemen and what is being said about that is not true.”

    Reuters, according to a senior American official: Washington classifies the Houthi movement as a “terrorist group” If the Yemenis stop their attacks in the Red Sea, Washington will consider lifting this classification. Comment: The Houthis don’t give a damn, to be honest. Let’s be real.

    The Biden administration is set to reintroduce the Houthi rebel group in Yemen to its list of foreign terrorist organizations. ‘This decision follows four recent U.S. strikes in Yemen targeting anti-ship ballistic missiles used by the Houthi rebels in the Red Sea. The Biden Admin’s Houthi policy is so broken they announced sanctions on the Houthis will return EXACTLY 3 years after Biden removed them. But they won’t even list them as a Foreign Terror Org.     Terrorist Designation of the Houthis

    The Department of State today is announcing the designation of Ansarallah, commonly referred to as the Houthis, as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist group, effective 30 days from today.

    Since November, the Houthis have launched unprecedented attacks against international maritime vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, as well as military forces positioned in the area to defend the safety and security of commercial shipping.  These attacks against international shipping have endangered mariners, disrupted the free flow of commerce, and interfered with navigational rights and freedoms.  This designation seeks to promote accountability for the group’s terrorist activities.  If the Houthis cease their attacks in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the United States will reevaluate this designation.

    The Houthis must be held accountable for their actions, but it should not be at the expense of Yemeni civilians.  As the Department of State moves forward with this designation, we are taking significant steps to mitigate any adverse impacts this designation may have on the people of Yemen.  During the 30-day implementation delay, the U.S. government will conduct robust outreach to stakeholders, aid providers, and partners who are crucial to facilitating humanitarian assistance and the commercial import of critical commodities in Yemen.  The Department of the Treasury is also publishing licenses authorizing certain transactions related to the provision of food, medicine, and fuel, as well as personal remittances, telecommunications and mail, and port and airport operations on which the Yemeni people rely.

    Today’s announced action is being taken pursuant to Executive Order 13224, as amended, which targets terrorists, terrorist organizations, leaders of terrorist groups, and those providing support to terrorists or acts of terrorism.  Ansarallah is being designated for having committed or attempted to commit, posing a significant risk of committing, or having participated in training to commit acts of terrorism that threaten the security of United States nationals or the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States.  This designation and the associated general licenses will be effective on February 16, 2024.

    The Houthi rebels claim these attacks are in response to Israel’s military actions in Gaza, initiated after Hamas’ October 7 assault on Israel. The official announcement of this move by the administration is anticipated on Wednesday.

    In February 2021, Secretary of State Antony Blinken removed the Houthi designation as foreign terrorist organizations and specially designated global terrorists. This move aimed to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Yemen. However, in the final days of the Trump administration, the Houthis were designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization, a decision criticized by human rights and aid groups.

    ‘Today, President Biden took yet another half-measure when he relisted the Houthi terrorists – who are launching attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea – as a “specially designated global terrorist” group.     The Biden administration’s reversal of the designation is not entirely surprising. President Joe Biden himself stated last week that he considers the Houthis a terrorist group. This shift in policy is driven by the recent Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping and their declaration of war against the U.S. due to its support for Israel in the conflict with Hamas.

    The latest U.S. strikes targeted Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, focusing on disrupting their military capabilities. Unlike the earlier pre-planned strikes, these actions demonstrate a more proactive stance by the U.S. military against the Houthi group.

    While the Biden administration’s decision to reinstate the specially designated global terrorists label on the Houthis does not include sanctions for providing ‘material support,’ it represents a shift in U.S. policy towards a more assertive approach against the Houthi rebel group. As many see it though, it is just more games being played by the Biden Administration. As the Houthi do what Iran says, and Iran is making a fortune in the oil market and in direct payments from Biden.  The Democrat Party seems to enjoy playing all sides in the Hamas-Israel War, and each side has now received billions of U.S. tax dollars. Why are we supporting Israel and its enemies? There can only be a few explanations. Either the Biden Administration is the ‘Joker’ on the world stage and doing all it can to create chaos internationally, and, or, they continue to do all they can to bankrupt the U.S.  What better method of bankrupting the nation than throwing 150 billion plus to Ukraine, 20 billion to Israel, 20 billion to Iran, 600 million to the Palestinian Authority, and still pledging more?  The U.S taxpayer loses no matter what, with Democrats in office, and particularly with President Biden, Obama’s puppet.
