    Trump’s Potential Running Mate: A Clash of Views on Nikki Haley and the Future of GOP

Here Are Trump’s Most Likely Running Mate Picks.  They seem to be all over the place though, even naming Deep State Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who has just about a zero chance of being named VP.  

    In the aftermath of former President Trump’s triumph in the Iowa caucuses, the focus has shifted to the potential candidates for his running mate. The question of whether Trump might select his former U.N. Ambassador, Nikki Haley, has sparked a clash of opinions among political pundits.  Trump is indicating no.

    During a recent “Overtime” segment on Bill Maher’s HBO show, the panel engaged in a spirited discussion about the likely contenders for Trump’s vice-presidential slot. Maher, reflecting on Trump’s recent success, queried his panel about potential choices, initially mentioning Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., who has been generating buzz as a possible candidate.

    Maher’s characterization of Stefanik as a “normal” who turned into a “Trump crazy” set the tone for a lively debate. Despite tensions between Trump and Haley, MSNBC host Ari Melber suggested that Trump might still opt for the former South Carolina governor. Maher, however, quickly dismissed the idea.

    ‘However, speculation has been rampant that Trump will choose a woman to shore up his perceived political vulnerabilities — the same calculus that led him to pick then-Indiana Gov. Mike Pence in 2016 to bolster support among evangelicals. “Where does Donald Trump have one of his biggest problems? Suburban white moms,” the campaign source said. “Elise Stefanik’s from central casting and she makes a lot of sense.” – From NY Post

    Melber argued that despite Haley’s controversial standing within the MAGA movement, Trump’s practical approach could lead him to consider her as a running mate. He contended that Haley’s appeal in the suburbs, a crucial demographic for Trump’s electoral strategy, might offset potential challenges. I don’t think Haley has a chance in hell of being chosen as Trump considers her totally Deep State and not one who believes in what he believes.

    Here is Trump on Haley. “She is not presidential timber,” Trump told a crowd of supporters just four days before the New Hampshire primary. “Now, when I say that, that probably means that she’s not going to be chosen as the vice president.” He explained, “I can’t say she’s not of the timber to be a vice [president] and then say ladies and gentlemen, ‘I’m proud to announce—’ Do you understand? But that’s the way it is. Tell it like it is.”

    Nikki Haley is adored by the UniParty Swamp because she’s one of them. She’s Dick Cheney in high heals. She’s a brunette Hillary Clinton. She puts the “Con” in NeoCon. She’s dangerous, said JD Rucker.

    Addressing Maher’s concerns about Haley’s hawkish foreign policy stance, Leftist Substack writer Andrew Sullivan expressed reservations, describing her as the “most unreconstructed neocon” he has encountered in politics. Sullivan asserted that Haley’s inclination toward military interventions could pose a problem for Trump, whose platform revolves around a departure from traditional neoconservative ideals.

    Maher, however, pushed back, suggesting that voters may not prioritize foreign policy when considering a running mate. Sullivan maintained that the electorate, particularly those weary of prolonged conflicts, could view Haley’s interventionist tendencies negatively. Why in the world would Trump ever choose Haley, who is against much of Trump’s platform?

    Melber countered this argument, asserting that voters typically do not expect a vice-presidential candidate to dictate foreign policy. Maher concurred to some extent, acknowledging that voters may be more focused on domestic issues, such as the situation in Ukraine, which gains attention primarily due to its impact on immigration.  Trump has said this as well, stating that the VP candidate has never truly helped an election.

    Sullivan reiterated his belief that voters, especially those who supported Trump, might be averse to a running mate with a proclivity for military interventions. He argued that such sentiments could influence the election outcome, emphasizing the importance of a vice-presidential candidate aligning with the broader Trump message.

    Melber, however, maintained that the average Trump voter does not necessarily attribute foreign policy decisions to the vice president. Maher, emphasizing the importance of the country’s internal affairs, highlighted the general public’s preference for local news over national headlines.

    To Sum It All Up:  the debate over Trump’s potential running mate reflects broader discussions about the direction of the Republican Party and the key issues that may influence voters in the upcoming election. A MAGA candidate is needed, but a Deep State candidate that can slip in, making it as if she is a great supporter of Turmp as of late, is Stefanik. That would satisfy the Deep State as their insurance policy on Trump, like a Pence, and also satisfy Trump’s desire to pick a female candidate as his running mate.
