    Recent survey results from Gallup, released on Feb. 7, indicate a significant erosion of historical support for Democrats among black and Hispanic communities, reaching an all-time low. The data reveals a noteworthy shift in political affiliations, prompting concerns within the Democratic Party.

    In 2023, the survey found that 66 percent of black adults identified as Democrats or leaned towards the Democratic Party, while only 19 percent identified with or leaned towards the Republican Party. Despite Democrats maintaining a lead among black adults, the 47-point advantage recorded in 2023 is the smallest margin since 1999, signaling a decline in support.

    Gallup attributes most of this decline to recent years, with the net-Democratic identification falling by 19 points from a 66-point advantage in 2020. This marks an 11-point decrease in Democratic affiliation among black adults since 2020 and an eight-point increase in Republican affiliation.

    The survey measured the “net-Democratic leaned party ID” for black voters, showcasing a 25 percentage point loss from 72 percent in 1999 to 47 percent in 2023. The analysis of presidential elections by Catalist further highlights the diminishing support for Democrats among black voters, dropping from 97 percent in 2012 to 90 percent in 2020.

    Notably, Gallup’s survey also indicates significant losses for Democrats among Hispanic adults. While Democrats held support from 26 percent of Hispanic adults in 2011, this figure plummeted to 12 percent in 2023, marking a 14-point deficit. Catalist’s analysis aligns with this trend, indicating a decline in Hispanic support for Democrats from 71 percent in 2016 to 63 percent in 2020.

    Gallup’s examination of gender preferences reveals a long-standing gap between women and men in their party affiliations. Although women have consistently leaned Democratic over the years, the net-Democratic identification among women decreased from +17 percent in 2021 to +9 percent in 2023. Meanwhile, men’s net-Democratic identification reached a record-low of -15, reflecting a shift toward the Republican side.

    Republicans have gained an advantage in other demographic groups as well. Among men, 52 percent identify as Republican or lean-Republican, compared to 37 percent identifying as Democrat or lean-Democrat. A similar trend is observed among non-college-educated adults, where 50 percent identify as Republican or lean-Republican, surpassing the 36 percent who identify as Democrat or lean-Democrat.

    Looking at the broader picture, 45 percent of U.S. adults identify as Republican or lean-Republican, slightly surpassing the 43 percent who identify as Democrat or lean-Democrat. Republicans also hold a one-point advantage among voters over 65, a two-point advantage among those aged 30 to 49, and a significant 10-point advantage among voters between 50 and 64.

    Gallup underscores the national trend of declining Democratic support in 2023, affecting various key subgroups of U.S. adults. While Democrats still maintain an advantage among blacks, Hispanics, and young adults, the weakened support within these groups is a cause for concern. In conclusion, Gallup emphasizes that the dwindling support among black and Hispanic adults should be particularly worrisome for the Democratic Party, urging a closer examination of these trends and potential strategies for course correction.

    Also never forget that Gallup has often been described by those on the Right, as a Leftist oriented polling organization. Which simply means it is far worse for Democrats.
