    Emphasizing the unique role of state attorneys as officers of the court, Ms. Stefanik contends that they are held to a higher standard, despite Americans having the First Amendment right to express opinions. She has called upon the New York Attorney Grievance Committee to investigate Ms. James and consider temporary suspension, permanent suspension, or disbarment.

    The civil fraud case, presided over by New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, has raised the stakes by proposing penalties such as a $370 million disgorgement of Trump Organization and a permanent ban on President Trump conducting business in New York.
