Is this all for show or will the Congress actually do something, like issue and arrest warrant for the man?
The United States House of Representatives recently voted 216-207 to hold U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress. This decision followed a preliminary vote that narrowly passed by one vote earlier in the day.
The vote showcased a notable division within party lines, with one Republican, Rep. David Joyce of Ohio, breaking ranks to side with the Democrats. The outcome has sparked discussions on whether Garland might actually face arrest, as Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) hinted at possibly initiating an Inherent Contempt vote, which would compel the Sergeant at Arms to take such action.

However, Garland appears unperturbed by these developments. Shortly after the House vote, he issued a statement through the Department of Justice, criticizing the vote as a manifestation of partisan politics and an infringement on the principle of separation of powers. He accused the House of Representatives of misusing its congressional authority for partisan ends, undermining both the Justice Department’s ongoing investigations and the constitutional balance.

In his statement, Garland defended his department’s integrity and its commitment to upholding democracy, stating, “I will always stand up for this Department, its employees, and its vital mission to defend our democracy.” His remarks have drawn sharp criticism from various quarters, including peaceful protesters, pro-life advocates, and political figures who believe that the actions of the Department under his leadership contradict his statements.
Attorney General Merrick Garland believes he’s above the law and doesn’t have to comply with legally issued Congressional subpoenas.

These critics argue that Garland’s leadership has seen the Justice Department engage in practices they view as politically biased, particularly against groups and individuals with opposing ideological stances. This includes high-profile figures and movements that have been at odds with current administration policies.
Since it is Garland that believe he is above the law, and the Republicans seem to be faking it all for the camera, will this man ever see justice? it is highly unlikely unless President Trump takes action after his win in November.
