Disney is a loser at the box office, unless they have their Pixar division make some real entertainment instead of the woke nonsense Disney keeps puking out.
Just two weeks after its release, “Inside Out 2” has quickly become the highest-grossing movie of the year, surpassing “Dune: Part Two” with impressive earnings of $355 million in North America and $724 million worldwide. This rapid accumulation of revenue positions it to potentially be the first movie of 2024 to surpass the $1 billion mark globally.

The sequel, a product of Disney and Pixar, has found considerable success internationally, collecting $164.4 million from 44 different territories in its second weekend alone. Its total foreign earnings now stand at $369.2 million, ranking it as the third biggest international release of the year, just behind “Godzilla x Kong” and “Dune: Part Two.” The film has performed exceptionally well in several key markets, including Mexico where it has earned $63.9 million, the United Kingdom with $29.2 million, Korea at $29 million, Germany at $17.9 million, and Brazil at $17.3 million. The movie is set to open in Japan on August 1, which is anticipated to boost its global earnings further.
Pixar’s comeback has been greatly aided by “Inside Out 2’s” popularity, especially following a stretch of underwhelming box office results. The film, which cost $200 million to produce, has benefited greatly from positive reviews and strong word of mouth, enhancing its appeal in theaters. This is evidenced by its significant earnings from Imax showings, where it has already grossed $32.2 million globally, making it the fourth highest-grossing animated title ever in this format.

Although “Inside Out 2” has dominated the box office, “Despicable Me 4,” from Universal and Illumination, which began its international run this weekend, gave it some competition. The latest installment in the popular family comedy series brought in $9.4 million from just four markets, including $4.6 million from Australia and $3.4 million from Argentina. Early indications suggest that this film is outpacing its predecessors, including “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” all of which were significant hits at the box office.

This latest sequel in the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence-led comedy series has so far accumulated $142.2 million internationally and $289.1 million worldwide. The movie had a notable opening weekend in China, earning $2.8 million.
As summer progresses, theaters are optimistic that upcoming releases like “A Quiet Place: Day One,” “Despicable Me 4,” “Twisters,” and “Deadpool & Wolverine” will maintain the momentum started by “Inside Out 2,” potentially leading to one of the most lucrative seasons in recent years.
