Listeriosis, the infection caused by Listeria monocytogenes, can present a range of symptoms, depending on the severity of the illness. Mild symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, which can last from a few days to several weeks. More severe symptoms include headache, stiff neck, disorientation, loss of balance, and convulsions can result from severe instances of listeriosis. For vulnerable groups, including the very young, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems, listeriosis can be fatal.

Additionally, listeria infection poses a significant risk to pregnant women, as it can cause miscarriages and stillbirths. Given these risks, the FDA emphasizes the importance of adhering to the recall and ensuring that potentially contaminated products are not consumed.
Totally Cool Inc.’s proactive recall and the FDA’s alert are critical steps in protecting public health. Consumers are urged to check their ice cream supplies and take appropriate action if they possess any of the recalled products.

While no illnesses have been reported, consumers are advised to return the affected products for a full refund and to contact Totally Cool Inc. for further information. The FDA continues to monitor the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of the public. Or at least that is what they say in public. Knowing how the FDA has been paid off by various companies, shelling out many millions to scientists at the agency, it is getting harder to believe anything they say. We can only hope trust is once again established.
