One of my favorite comics for many years, Eddie Murphy has made me laugh from the start. I’ve seen everything he was in from Saturday Night Live, where he actually started there as a teenager, to now the new Beverly Hills Cop movie, I have always loved his work and laughed hard.
Eddie Murphy, a legendary comedian, always had a clear vision of his future stardom. As a young boy, he confidently told his mother that one day his name would shine brightly in lights. This unwavering belief in his destiny was realized when he achieved fame, and it felt like a natural progression for him.
The Fandom Wizard Reviews Presents:
Beverly Hills Cop III (1994)
This sequel has some that hate it (Including Eddie Murphy) and some that really like it. I am in the I like it camp. It has some shortcomings (Which I will discuss) but it also has a lot of assets too.

Murphy’s fame is not just significant; it is monumental. With a career spanning over four decades, he has delivered numerous blockbuster films. His ascent to stardom was notably marked by his iconic role as Axel Foley in the 1984 film “Beverly Hills Cop,” which dominated the box office for 14 weeks. This film not only solidified his status as a leading actor but also represented a pivotal moment in Hollywood for Black actors. Murphy is set to return to this beloved role in the upcoming movie “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.”
Reflecting on this role after 42 years, Murphy described the experience as surreal, especially reuniting with the original cast. At 63, he found the physical demands of the role more challenging than in his younger years. He candidly shared that his agility is not what it used to be, necessitating adjustments in filming. Many scenes were shot with him behind the wheel, reducing the need for physically strenuous action.
In this new installment, Axel Foley is portrayed as a father, introducing a fresh dynamic to the character. Murphy highlighted a poignant moment in the film where Foley’s daughter addresses their strained relationship, which he believes will resonate deeply with the audience.

Murphy’s personal life mirrors some aspects of his on-screen roles. As a father of ten, with children ranging from 5 to 34 years old, he maintains a close bond with all of them. He describes himself as a laid-back, cool dad who strikes a balance between leniency and discipline. He has always made it a priority to be present for significant events in his children’s lives. Interestingly, he notes that his younger children tend to be more wild and loud compared to his older ones.
Murphy’s family shares a special bond with fellow comedian Martin Lawrence. His son, Eric, is dating Lawrence’s daughter, Jasmin. Murphy approves of their relationship and humorously anticipates that any potential grandchildren from this union will likely inherit their comedic talent.
Beyond his acting career, Murphy has a passion for music. He gained recognition for his hit “Party All the Time” and continues to write and record music. However, most of his musical work remains private, with hints that it may be released posthumously, allowing future generations to discover a new facet of his talent.
This is how you do it. #BeverlyHillsCopAxelF is the sequel you’ve been waiting for, loaded with great action scenes, humor and nostalgia. #EddieMurphy is in top form. @LorneBalfe‘s synth-laden celebrates Harold Faltermeyer and the 80s. When it comes to returning to stand-up comedy, Murphy has mixed feelings. He acknowledges the vast number of comedians today and questions how he could stand out. However, if he were to return, he envisions a show that blends comedy, music, and storytelling, offering a unique and multifaceted experience. One thing I did not like recently is news stories regarding him being upset about some joke about him decades ago, showing signs of a woke attitude. I so hope he does not go down that road. If he does, I will say it now, a ‘Woke’ Eddie Murphy is poison to our world, so I’m hoping it all isn’t true. As Elon Musk likes to talk about how ‘woke’ is destroying our world, when it comes to entertainment he recently said, ‘The woke mind virus is making Netflix unwatchable’. I agree, and hoping Eddie Murphy is not infected.
