The Democrats never let a tragedy go to waste, and the July 13, 2024 assassination attempt on Trump, the death of innocent bystander Corey Comperatore, and the injuries of two others were nothing but opportunities for our politicians on the left side of the aisle.
The horrific attack on Donald Trump and his supporters was incredibly downplayed by the media, politicians, and social media influencers. From BlueAnon theories to talks of gun control and J6, the severity of the Trump assassination attempt has fallen by the wayside.
While congressional members aimed to address Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle’s failures that day, Jaime Raskin (D, MD) delivered a long monologue about gun control, assault weapons bans, and January 6th, 2021.
Raskin turned the “Oversight of the U.S. Secret Service and the Attempted Assassination of President Donald J. Trump” hearing into a stage for his anti-MAGA, anti-2A rhetoric.
In his opening statements, he addressed a shooting in Birmingham, Alabama, the January 6th riots, and the efficacy of the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban.
“And in the immediate aftermath of the January 6, 2021, mass violence waged against us, and the Vice President and the constitutional transfer of power, Democrats and Republicans—including Senator McConnell, Chairman Comer, and other colleagues—all denounced this violent assault on our democracy that wounded approximately 140 officers from the U.S. Capitol Police and the Metropolitan Police Department.” ~ Jaime Raskin Committee on Oversight and Accountability hearing July 20, 2024.
Unfortunately, the Committee on Oversight and Accountability revealed little information about the Secret Service’s failure that day. Still, Jaime Raskin certainly didn’t want to focus on that aspect of the hearing.
Downplaying the assassination attempt, comparing mass shootings to an actual assault on America’s Democratic processes, and developing new and creative anti-Trump theories seems to be the Left’s go-to response.
While Democrat politicians point fingers at AR-15s and push their long-standing political agenda, the media and influencers have chosen another path: BlueAnon conspiracy theories.
Initial headlines indicated that Trump had fallen or stumbled at his rallies. After the FBI’s statements confirming the assassination attempt, the media quickly updated its headlines, questioning whether it was a bullet or shrapnel that hit the former president.
Never mind the fact that a radicalized young man took shots at Donald Trump, the internet was filled with speculation regarding the terminal ballistics of the 5.56 NATO.
Some influencers have even gone as far as to say that Trump staged the entire thing, while others have blamed Trump’s rhetoric for his own
The long-running mass disinformation campaign against Donald Trump and his voters is rearing its ugly head today more than ever. In a recent poll, 38% of voters blamed Trump for the shooting, and 34% said it was staged.
Between Democrat politicians distracting Americans with talks of gun control and the media fueling illogical conspiracy theories, another truth is revealed: The mass disinformation campaign against Trump and freedom-loving Americans is alive and well.
While we don’t know what the future of this country holds, we do know that Donald Trump’s assassination attempt was anything but a laughing matter and it has been undermined by wild conspiracy theories and distractions.
