Marvel may be back onto the road of blockbusters. All they needed to do was stop the woke nonsense.
Deadpool truly embraces his self-proclaimed title as Marvel’s Jesus. The latest film, “Deadpool & Wolverine,” has continued to make waves at the box office, shattering records in its second weekend. The movie grossed an impressive $97 million domestically, making it the eighth biggest second weekend of all time and the fifth largest for a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) title. This brings its 10-day North American total to a staggering $395.6 million, with only a minimal drop of 53 percent from its opening weekend.

Internationally, the success story is equally compelling. “Deadpool & Wolverine” earned an additional $110.5 million overseas, bringing its foreign total to $428.5 million and a global haul of $824.1 million. The film is well on its way to joining the billion-dollar club within a matter of days.
Several milestones have been achieved with this release. Ryan Reynolds, the star and mastermind behind the franchise, has seen the Deadpool threequel surpass Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” ($371.1 million) to become the top-grossing R-rated movie of all time domestically, not adjusted for inflation. It has also outpaced the lifetime earnings of the first two Deadpool films both domestically and globally in just two weekends. The first Deadpool grossed $363.1 million domestically and $782.6 million worldwide, while the second brought in $318.5 million domestically and $734.5 million worldwide.
Moreover, “Deadpool & Wolverine” has climbed to No. 3 on the list of top-grossing R-rated films worldwide. Todd Phillips’ “Joker” currently holds the top spot with $1.064 billion, but “Deadpool & Wolverine” is expected to surpass it soon, potentially landing in the $1.2 billion range. Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” sits at No. 2 with $975.2 million globally.

Disney has had a remarkable summer, with hits like “Inside Out 2,” the top animated film of all time with $1.56 billion, and now “Deadpool & Wolverine,” helping the studio cross the $3 billion mark in worldwide ticket sales.
Despite the dominance of “Deadpool & Wolverine,” other films have held their own. “Twisters,” distributed by Universal, earned $22.7 million in its third weekend, bringing its domestic total to $195.6 million. M. Night Shyamalan’s “Trap,” starring Josh Hartnett, debuted in third place with $15.6 million, meeting expectations despite mixed reviews and a C+ CinemaScore.

Illumination and Universal’s “Despicable Me 4” crossed the $300 million mark domestically, with a worldwide total of $752.2 million. Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” followed closely with $6.7 million, bringing its global total to $1.55 billion, making it the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
However, not all family films fared well. Sony’s “Harold and the Purple Crayon” opened in sixth place with a disappointing $6 million, despite an A- CinemaScore from audiences. Critics were less kind, and the film earned only $3 million from its first 32 international markets.
Neon’s thriller “Longlegs” continued to perform well, earning $4.4 million and bringing its domestic total to $70 million, a significant achievement for an indie film.
