Biden and the Democrats have turned Blue States into evacuation centers. No one wants to stay and if they can move, they are.
When people think of where wealthy young Americans live, California and New York are often the first states that come to mind. However, times are changing. Recent research from SmartAsset reveals that Americans with six-figure salaries are increasingly leaving these traditional hotspots for more cost-effective locales.
California recently experienced a net outflow of 24,670 high-earners, each with an average adjusted gross income (AGI) of $1.3 million. Similarly, New York saw 12,040 wealthy individuals move out, with those departing reporting an average AGI of $1.1 million. These shifts indicate that even the wealthiest Americans are prioritizing more affordable living conditions.

The SmartAsset study, which analyzed IRS data from the 2021-2022 tax year, used a threshold of households earning over $200,000 annually. The findings reveal where these high-income earners are heading and why they’re making the move.
Florida and Texas emerge as the top destinations for wealthy Californians and New Yorkers. Florida alone attracted a net inflow of 29,771 high-earning households, while Texas saw an influx of 8,260. Both states are particularly appealing because they have no state income tax, offering a significant financial relief compared to the hefty taxes in California and New York.
In New York, high-income earners face state income tax rates as high as 10.9%, while Californians encounter the highest rates in the country, which can soar to 12.3%, or even 14.4% for those earning over $1 million annually. Moving to states like Florida and Texas allows these individuals to keep more of their earnings.
In addition to tax benefits, both Florida and Texas boast affordable real estate markets. As of June 2024, median home prices in Florida were around $385,000, and in Texas, they were approximately $342,167. In contrast, California’s median home price stood at $746,667, and New York’s was $450,000, making the cost of living in these traditional states significantly higher.
Aside from Florida and Texas, the Carolinas are also attracting wealthy movers. North Carolina saw a net inflow of 5,792 high-earning households, while South Carolina welcomed 5,270. These states offer affordable housing, with median home prices in North Carolina at $341,500 and South Carolina at $317,833 as of June 2024. The mild climate, attractive urban centers, and lower cost of living make these states highly desirable.
Arizona is another state gaining popularity, with 4,365 high-earning households moving in. Its warm climate, growing economy, and the recent implementation of a flat 2.50% income tax rate in 2023 make it an appealing choice for those looking to maximize their wealth.
While Democrats and the Mainstream Media tell you that it’s not happening, It’s happening.
