Taylor-Joy’s previous success with The Queen’s Gambit—a Netflix chess thriller that topped charts in 92 countries—further solidifies her status as a powerful lead. This new project promises to capture the same level of intensity, with Taylor-Joy expressing her excitement for the role, stating, “As soon as I turned the last page, I knew I had to be a part of bringing this story to life.”
The eight-episode series is produced by Sid Gentle Films Ltd, the same company behind Killing Eve. Bella Mackie, the author of the novel, is on board as a co-executive producer. Emma Moran, known for her work on Extraordinary, serves as the lead writer and executive producer alongside Sally Woodward Gentle, Lizzie Rusbridger, Lee Morris, and Taylor-Joy herself for LadyKiller Productions.
Mackie expressed her enthusiasm for the adaptation, noting that watching her characters come to life has been thrilling. She praised Taylor-Joy as the perfect fit for the role of Grace, and expressed confidence in the creative team’s ability to do justice to the story.
