On Saturday, the Lebanese Hezbollah group fired more than 60 rockets into northern Israel, marking the second consecutive day of intense attacks targeting the Safed area. The rocket barrage began early in the morning, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reporting multiple rounds of rockets fired from Lebanon, some intercepted by air defenses, while others landed in open areas, sparking fires. Despite the severity of the attacks, no injuries were reported.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the strikes, stating they were in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon the previous day. The group asserted that its targets were Israeli military bases near Safed, though the city, which lies about 13 kilometers from the Lebanese border, remained largely inhabited, with attacks this deep into Israel considered relatively uncommon.
The initial attack occurred around 1 a.m., when five rockets were launched, triggering sirens in Safed and nearby towns. The IDF intercepted some of the rockets, and the rest landed in open areas. Later in the morning, two larger barrages followed—one with 20 rockets and another with 35. The military responded swiftly, destroying one of the rocket launchers in a drone strike and targeting another launcher in a separate airstrike. Additionally, Israeli fighter jets hit Hezbollah buildings in southern Lebanon, including in the towns of Kfar Roummane and Blida, where Hezbollah operatives were believed to be stationed.
In a related incident, the IDF intercepted a drone launched from Lebanon that had triggered alarms in the Western Galilee region. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the drone as well.

These skirmishes have led to significant casualties, with 26 Israeli civilians and 20 IDF soldiers and reservists killed.
