‘For three years the story from the Biden Administration was that the border wasn’t in crisis. Now they’ve changed that story and admitted the crisis but have decided to take zero responsibility for it. This is patently ridiculous. They are lying to the American people because they think the American people are dumb. They’re going to find out in November exactly how smart we are,’ said Rep Lauren Boebert. Paul A S. says ‘Moving the goalposts is what the Democrats do. But what they don’t do is ever take responsibility for their failures — no matter how catastrophic. Mayorkas should be tried for treason for what he’s purposely done at our border. He’s been the guy in charge this whole time.’ and we tend to agree here at Whatfinger.
Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb has directed the deployment of 50 Indiana National Guard troops to Texas to support Governor Greg Abbott’s initiatives aimed at preventing illegal border crossings from Mexico. Holcomb announced the decision in a social media post on Friday, expressing his commitment to assisting Texas in its security mission.
Effective immediately I am deploying the Indiana National Guard to support the ongoing border security mission in Texas. – Governor Eric Holcomb
The selected troops will undergo a week of training at the Camp Atterbury Indiana National Guard base before deploying to Texas for a ten-month mission. This move aligns Indiana with 12 other states that have contributed their National Guard troops to support Texas in border security operations.
Governor Abbott initiated “Operation Lone Star” in March 2021 in response to an increase in illegal border crossings and smuggling activities during President Joe Biden’s administration. Several Republican governors, including Holcomb, have contributed resources to assist Texas in its efforts to address border security concerns.
The Biden administration has, at times, contested the measures taken by Governor Abbott, challenging the deployment of a floating barrier in the Rio Grande and the use of physical barriers on the Texas side of the river. Legal battles ensued, and the U.S. Supreme Court granted the administration permission to remove Texas’ border barriers in January.

Despite the court ruling, Governor Abbott remains steadfast in his commitment to block illegal border crossings. Holcomb, along with 24 other Republican governors, supported Abbott’s stance, expressing concerns about the impact of illegal immigration on national and economic security.
In response to the deployment of Indiana National Guard troops, Holcomb emphasized the need to address the high flow of illegal immigrants crossing the border, citing the impact on public safety and the ongoing drug epidemic. He stated, “We’ve worked too hard in Indiana attacking the drug epidemic for more Hoosier lives to be put at risk by a constant supply of killer drugs spilled over an open U.S. border.”
This deployment marks Indiana’s continued support for National Guard missions at the southern border, with 300 troops deployed since October 2020 and a recent deployment in October 2023.

While some Democrats, including Representative Joaquin Castro and Representative Greg Casar, have criticized Governor Abbott’s border efforts as political stunts causing harm, the Biden administration has not taken steps to federalize National Guard forces to counteract state-level border security missions.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre characterized Abbott’s border efforts as political stunts, emphasizing that these actions are causing harm and not effectively addressing the root problems. Despite some Democrats urging the federalization of National Guard troops to counter Abbott’s initiatives, the Biden administration has not pursued this course of action.

In response to the debate, a group of 24 House Republicans wrote a letter to President Biden, asserting that efforts to federalize the Texas National Guard could be unconstitutional. The ongoing discussions highlight the complexities surrounding the balance of power between state and federal authorities in addressing border security challenges.
As the situation unfolds, the deployment of Indiana National Guard troops underscores the collaborative efforts among states to address border security concerns while raising questions about the federal government’s role in managing such issues. The divergent perspectives among political leaders continue to shape the discourse on effective border control measures and the appropriate use of National Guard resources. ‘In my opinion, Democrats won’t close the border because they need illegal aliens so they can use all those addresses and names immigration and border patrol obtain to fill out mail in ballots and have them dropped off at drop boxes in swing states. 13 million more ballots will really come in handy in 2024, ‘ said Insurrection Barbie.
