    In a distressing turn of events, a 26-year-old Venezuelan migrant, who had illegally crossed the Mexican border into Texas in 2022, now faces charges in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old nursing student from the University of Georgia – Athens (UGA). The Biden administration’s release of the Venezuelan national, Jose Antonio Ibarra, in El Paso has sparked controversy, as he listed an NGO in New York City as his intended destination.

    Outrageous! If true, this is a monumental scandal and underscores the urgent need to abolish sanctuary city policies. He was arrested in NYC and yet was not turned over to ICE—now, he’s accused of murdering a Georgia nursing student. This insanity must end- Robert Holden

    According to an inside source within U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), officers from the Atlanta field office arrested Ibarra, who is now accused of the alleged murder of UGA nursing student Laken Hope Riley. The source, not authorized to speak with the media, disclosed that Ibarra entered the United States in September 2022 and was subsequently released due to overcrowding in migrant shelters.

    The month of September 2022 witnessed a surge in migrants, overwhelming officials in the El Paso Sector. The City of El Paso reported a significant increase in migrant releases by the Biden administration, escalating from 250 per day in August to “as high as 1,000 per day in September.” Notably, the majority of migrants at that time originated from Venezuela, Ecuador, El Salvador, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Cuba, with approximately 70% hailing from Venezuela.

    Facing a burgeoning number of migrants released onto the streets of El Paso, City officials resorted to busing migrants to New York City. By mid-September 2022, 25 buses transported 1,135 migrants to New York City, attempting to alleviate the strain on local resources.

    Despite the implementation of the Title 42 CDC Covid Emergency protocol at the time of Ibarra’s entry into the United States, the Biden administration opted to release him in El Paso instead of immediate expulsion. Journalist Ali Bradley reported that Ibarra listed the Covenant House in New York as his “sponsor address” before being released, although it remains uncertain if he was among the migrants transported from El Paso to New York City.

    Disturbingly, DHS sources revealed that Ibarra was arrested in September 2023 in Queens, New York, for injury to a child under the age of 17. The sanctuary city of New York released the Venezuelan migrant, who subsequently traveled to Georgia, where he was eventually arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Laken Riley.

    New York City’s sanctuary city policies, preventing cooperation with ICE ERO officers, played a pivotal role in Ibarra’s release and subsequent travels. These policies obstructed the enforcement of an immigration detainer, which could have held Ibarra in a federal detention facility pending trial in a New York court.

    The tragic incident involving Laken Riley unfolded when a fellow student reported her missing after a jog near the UGA intramural fields. UGA police discovered Riley’s body the following day in a forested area near Lake Herrick, revealing visible injuries and raising suspicions of foul play.

    ICE ERO officers swiftly apprehended Ibarra on the same day, booking him into the Clarke County jail. Records obtained reveal that Ibarra listed an address in Athens as his residence. He is currently held without bond on charges that include two counts of felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, obstructing a person making an emergency telephone call, concealing the death of another person, and failure to appear for a “fingerprintable charge.”

    Remarkably, the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office does not cooperate with ICE ERO officers, evident from the absence of an immigration detainer in the jail records. This tragic case raises questions about the handling of migrants, the impact of sanctuary city policies, and the need for effective collaboration between law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety.  The Democrats and their RINO allies are doing all they can to keep the border wide open. The end result we are all too familiar with. Over 150K Americans poisoned to death annually vis China and the Cartels, plus thousands killed, raped, attacked all over the U.S.   All thanks to Joe Boden, the Democrats, and their ‘secure border’ scam.
