    In a recent interview on Monday’s broadcast of NBC’s “Late Night,” President Joe Biden tackled concerns about his age, asserting that his opponent in the potential 2024 presidential race, former President Donald Trump, is equally old but struggles with memory issues, emphasizing that the real issue is the age of one’s ideas.

    During the interview with host Seth Meyers, who pointed out that Biden is currently 81 years old, the President faced questions regarding the concerns raised by American voters about his age and how he plans to address them leading up to the 2024 election.

    Biden responded by highlighting a couple of key points. First, he drew a comparison between his age and that of Trump, stating, “Well, a couple of things: Number one, you’ve got to take a look at the other guy. He’s about as old as I am, but he can’t even remember his wife’s name, number one.” This remark was a clear allusion to concerns about Trump’s mental acuity and memory.

    The President then pivoted to a broader perspective, asserting that age should not be the sole focus, but rather the age of one’s ideas. Biden emphasized, “Secondly, it revolves around the age of your ideas. See, this individual aims to lead us backward, intending to revisit policies such as Roe v. Wade and various issues deeply rooted in American positions for the past 50 to 60 years.”

The President criticized Trump’s stance on issues, stating, “And I really mean this sincerely, I think it’s about the future, and everything, every single thing we’ve done — and I think we’ve gotten some good things done — everything — and they told us we couldn’t get them done because things were so divided and — but I think everything we’ve gotten done, he’s firmly stated, he wants to do away with if he gets elected.”

    Biden highlighted the stark contrast in their visions for the country, portraying Trump’s views as outdated and incompatible with the progress achieved during Biden’s tenure. The President summarized his perspective on Trump’s vision for America, saying, “And I really think his views on where to take America are older than — anyway I don’t want to get [unintelligible].”

    In essence, Biden’s response to concerns about his age revolved around two main points: a comparison of cognitive abilities with his potential opponent and an emphasis on the relevance of ideas in shaping the future of the nation. By framing the debate in terms of the age of ideas rather than chronological age, Biden sought to redirect the narrative and underscore the importance of forward-thinking policies in the upcoming election.     Can you imagine what would happen if Biden tried such a tactic in public? He would look like an utter fool.  He is no longer able to speak in public and bets are there is no way on Earth he will debate Trump. He will be hidden away in his basement for most of the campaign, if in fact he is the candidate. That is still not cemented.
