    In a recent survey conducted by Pan Atlantic Research, former President Donald Trump appears to be outpacing President Joe Biden in the state of Maine. This is noteworthy due to Maine’s unique method of awarding electoral votes, utilizing the congressional district approach. While the majority of states follow a winner-takes-all system, Maine has two congressional districts, distributing electoral votes based on the overall state popular vote as well as the popular vote winner in each district. This distinct system results in a total of four electoral votes, potentially leading to a split outcome.

    According to the Pan Atlantic Research survey, Trump is currently leading Biden statewide by a margin of six percentage points, with Trump securing 38 percent of the support compared to Biden’s 32 percent. Notably, a significant portion of the electorate, comprising 21 percent, remains undecided.

    Breaking down the results by congressional districts, Trump maintains an eight-point lead in the First Congressional District. In this district, Trump commands 39 percent support, while Biden trails at 31 percent. Meanwhile, 23 percent of voters are still undecided. The Second Congressional District presents an even more substantial lead for Trump, with a 20-point advantage – Trump securing 45 percent compared to Biden’s 25 percent. Nineteen percent of voters in this district remain undecided.

    Moreover, the survey reveals that Trump is also surpassing his Republican primary challenger, Nikki Haley, by a substantial 42-point margin. These findings were based on responses from 791 likely Maine voters, with a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percent.

    It is noteworthy that these survey results align with recent polls indicating Trump’s lead over Biden in key swing states, including Arizona, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia, and Nevada.

    The data paints a picture of Trump’s continued popularity and strong support among Maine voters.
