Minnette found his early acting success with small roles in sitcoms from the early 2000s, such as Two and a Half Men and Drake & Josh. He later secured roles in notable films like Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners and Jason Reitman’s Labor Day. Following the conclusion of 13 Reasons Why in 2020, he took a brief hiatus before returning to the screen in 2022 with a role in the fifth installment of Scream and a part in Hulu’s limited series The Dropout, portraying Tyler Shultz, a real-life former employee of Theranos who became a whistleblower.
Despite his considerable success in acting, Minnette felt a compelling urge to dedicate himself to his band, Wallows, which includes his fellow musicians Braeden Lemasters and Cole Preston. He expressed a desire to push the band as far as possible, indicating his commitment to giving the band his “100% time and energy.” Wallows is actively working on a new album and has recently released a cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Espresso.”
