The plan is always the same. Get millions in the country, and life happens. They have kids and get married, making it almost impossible to deport them.
The Biden administration is reportedly on the verge of unveiling a major immigration relief initiative, described as one of the most significant in recent years. This forthcoming policy is expected to grant legal status to hundreds of thousands of immigrants currently residing in the U.S. without proper documentation. According to sources familiar with the matter, the initiative, under development by White House officials, aims to provide work permits and protection from deportation to unauthorized immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens, contingent on having lived in the U.S. for a minimum of ten years.

The proposed plan, termed “Parole in Place,” also seeks to establish a route to permanent legal status and ultimately, U.S. citizenship for some recipients. This is primarily by circumventing a specific barrier in U.S. immigration law that currently prevents individuals who entered the country illegally from obtaining green cards without first leaving the U.S.
In parallel, another aspect of the administration’s immigration efforts includes simplifying the application process for waivers. These waivers would facilitate easier access to temporary visas, such as the H-1B visa for highly skilled workers, particularly benefiting DREAMers and other undocumented immigrants.
The sources indicated that these measures might be announced as early as the upcoming Tuesday, aligning with an event at the White House commemorating the 12th anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. This program currently shields about 530,000 undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children from deportation.

No final decisions have been confirmed by the White House, although an official noted the administration’s commitment to addressing the issues within the current immigration system. The “Parole in Place” initiative, if enacted, would represent the largest program for unauthorized immigrants since DACA was introduced in 2012 by former President Barack Obama.
This initiative is particularly targeted at a segment of the estimated 1.1 million unauthorized immigrants who are married to American citizens, provided they meet the required residency duration and other criteria. The broader context includes roughly 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

President Biden’s administration has shown an increasing readiness to use executive actions to tackle immigration issues, particularly with the upcoming presidential election in mind. This includes a recent executive action partially restricting asylum claims at the southern U.S. border, which has already faced legal challenges. Similar to this, the “Parole in Place” program is also expected to encounter legal obstacles and significant opposition, particularly from Republican lawmakers who oppose amnesty for those living in the U.S. illegally.
Despite this, the policy is seen as a potential factor that could influence Latino voters, especially those from mixed-status families, in the forthcoming election. Additionally, a more restricted version of the “Parole in Place” program has been operational for over a decade, specifically aiding military families by allowing some undocumented immigrants who are immediate relatives of U.S. service members or veterans to obtain green cards without leaving the country. Hispanics as a group have moved to favor Trump above Biden and now, this move is only accelerating.
Any moves by the Biden Administration are increasingly looked upon as divisive and detrimental to the nation. The Democrat lies of the border being secure, while hundreds of thousands of Americans have been killed by drugs, makes Hispanics as upset as every other group outside of media.
Major Points
- The Biden administration is preparing to launch a significant immigration relief program, potentially granting legal status to hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants married to U.S. citizens.
- The proposed “Parole in Place” policy would allow eligible immigrants who have lived in the U.S. for at least ten years to obtain work permits and protection from deportation.
- The policy also aims to provide a pathway to permanent legal status and U.S. citizenship by bypassing current legal barriers that prevent green card acquisition without leaving the country.
- Additional measures include simplifying the waiver process for temporary visas, benefiting DREAMers and other undocumented individuals.
- The announcement aligns with the 12th anniversary of DACA and is part of a broader effort by President Biden to address immigration reforms through executive action as legislative solutions remain stalled.
