Is Putin planning a surprise for South Korea, along with Red China, if things get rough in the Ukraine or anywhere?
Vladimir Putin has issued a stern warning to South Korea against supplying Ukraine with weapons, suggesting that doing so would be “a big mistake.” This comes after South Korea indicated it might consider arming Ukraine following a new agreement between Russia and North Korea aimed at mutual support in the event of aggression.

In a statement to reporters in Vietnam, Putin emphasized that Russia would respond in ways that would not be favorable to South Korea’s leaders if they proceed with weapon shipments to Kyiv. His comments were made during a trip that included a high-profile visit to Pyongyang, where he and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inked a defense pact.
Putin further cautioned that Russia could provide arms to North Korea if the United States and its allies persist in their support of Ukraine. He highlighted a discrepancy in perceptions, noting that those supplying arms to Ukraine might not see themselves at war with Russia, yet Moscow reserves the right to arm other regions in response.

The South Korean government had previously criticized the Russian-North Korean pact as a threat to its national security. Chang Ho-jin, a national security advisor, mentioned that the agreement had prompted Seoul to reconsider its stance on arms support to Ukraine. Following Putin’s remarks, South Korea’s presidential office announced it was evaluating various options regarding arms supplies to Ukraine, contingent on Russia’s actions.
In a diplomatic move, South Korea summoned Russian ambassador Georgy Zinoviev to express its protest against the Russia-North Korea military cooperation, demanding an immediate cessation.
South Korea’s involvement has so far been limited to providing humanitarian aid and non-lethal military equipment to Ukraine, adhering to a policy against arming nations engaged in active conflict. However, the evolving military cooperation between Russia and North Korea may prompt a strategic reassessment in Seoul.
Kim Jong Un’s support for Russia’s actions in Ukraine and the suspected deployment of North Korean missiles by Russia in the conflict have added complexity to the geopolitical situation. The U.S. has also reacted, with National Security Council spokesman John Kirby expressing concern over the Russia-North Korea agreement, citing its potential to disrupt regional peace and stability.
Japan has voiced serious concerns as well, particularly over the possibility of military technology cooperation between Russia and North Korea, describing the situation as unacceptable.

The implications of the Russo-North Korean treaty are vast, potentially affecting global and regional security dynamics. It raises the possibility not only of North Korea arming Russia but also of Russia potentially intervening in conflicts on the Korean Peninsula.
Recent tensions on the Korean border have escalated, with reported incidents of North Korean troops crossing into South Korea, leading to exchanges of warning shots. This string of border incidents is only increasing ever since Biden became President. It is as if the signal went out that America was weak and had a dementia and well bribed President, so time to do mischief everywhere. And they all are.
