“The Bear” made history by setting a new record for the most nominations in a single year for a comedy series, with an impressive total of 23 nominations. This surpasses the previous record held by “30 Rock,” which garnered 22 nominations in 2009. “Shōgun” led the drama category with 25 nominations, establishing it as a standout contender in this year’s awards.
Other notable series include “Only Murders in the Building,” which received 21 nominations, “True Detective: Night Country” with 19, and “The Crown,” securing 18 nominations in its final season. By network, Netflix continued to dominate with 107 nominations, followed by FX with 93 and HBO with 91.
“The Morning Show” made a significant impact in the drama series categories, securing half of the nominations for supporting acting with seven total. Nominees include Nicole Beharie, Greta Lee, Karen Pittman, Holland Taylor, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, and Jon Hamm, who also earned a lead acting nomination for his role in “Fargo.”
The nominations were revealed by actors Tony Hale, a two-time Emmy winner for “Veep,” and Sheryl Lee Ralph, who won an Emmy for “Abbott Elementary” and received another nomination this year for her supporting performance in the show.
