He is being pressured to let Hamas survive. Netanyahu knows that these terrorists must be destroyed if Israel is to achieve any degree of safety. Iran’s terrorists known as Hamas and the barbarians up north in Lebanon, known as Hezbollah, are attacking Israel daily. It is only when Israel responds that the fake news media of the west organizes to attack Israel, and not the terrorists.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans to send a delegation to Rome for negotiations aimed at ending the conflict between Israel and Hamas. The announcement came on Friday during Netanyahu’s visit to Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. This visit followed discussions in Washington with US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris regarding ceasefire efforts.

The Biden administration indicated that progress was being made in closing “gaps” between the US and Israel on the issue. However, Vice President Harris emphasized her concern for the situation in Gaza, stating she would “not be silent” about the “tragedy” and “suffering” of Gazan civilians. Harris called for an end to the war that would ensure Israel’s security, the release of all hostages, and the rights of Palestinians to freedom and self-determination.
Netanyahu responded by noting that Israeli negotiators would likely head to Rome “probably at the beginning of the week.” He acknowledged some progress in ceasefire discussions, attributing it to the military pressure exerted by Israel. However, he expressed concern that Harris’s comments might complicate the negotiations, suggesting that a united front between Israel and the US would expedite a resolution.
The conflict escalated when Hamas invaded southern Israel on October 7 of the previous year, resulting in over 1,200 deaths, primarily Israelis, and 251 hostages taken, many of whom remain in Gaza. The Hamas-run health ministry claims that more than 39,000 people have been killed in Gaza due to Israel’s military response.

In a related development, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has requested arrest warrants for Netanyahu and several Hamas leaders on allegations of war crimes, charges that both parties deny.
The Rome talks represent the latest effort to broker a ceasefire and secure the release of hostages still held in Gaza. The United States is sending CIA Director Bill Burns to meet with representatives from Qatar, Egypt, and Israel, with discussions set to commence on Sunday.
Former President Trump, who was hosting Netanyahu, criticized Harris’s remarks as “disrespectful” to Israel. He reiterated his commitment to seeking peace if re-elected, emphasizing his administration’s strong support for Israel. Trump’s presidency saw significant shifts in US Middle East policy, including moving the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, withdrawing from an international agreement aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions, and facilitating the “Abraham Accords” to normalize relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors.
