McDonald’s collectors, get ready for some fun.
The fast food chain announced plans to roll out the “Collector’s Meal” on Aug. 13. The limited-time meal combines classic McDonald’s food items with one of six collectible cups, each decorated with nostalgic references.
The plastic cups are filled with images of beloved characters including Barbie and Hot Wheels, Beanie Babies, Coca-Cola polar bears, Hello Kitty and Peanuts, McDonald’s mascots, and a combination of Shrek, Jurassic Park and Minions.
Plus, if you look closely at each cup, there are illustrations of collectibles given in former Happy Meals. The Shrek, Jurassic Park and Minions cup has a picture of the Gingerbread Man watch that was available in 2010 for Shrek Forever After. The Barbie cup has images of dolls sold throughout the years, like 1999’s Pet Lovin’ Barbie.

To snag a cup, customers need to order a “Collector’s Meal,” which is available in a few variations. During breakfast hours, the “Collector’s Meal” includes a sausage and egg McMuffin, hash brown and hot coffee with one plastic cup. Throughout the rest of the day, fans get a cup with the choice of 10-piece McNuggets or a Big Mac with fries and a soft drink.
“These new collectible cups commemorate some of our most unforgettable designs and global collaborations over the years, allowing longtime fans to relive treasured moments and helping a new generation make their own lasting memories,” said McDonald’s Morgan Flatley.
The “Collector’s Meal” will be available beginning on Aug. 13 when ordering in-store, online or via the app.
McDonald’s taps into nostalgia with its Happy Meal toys as well. In December, after 25 years off the market, the chain restaurant brought back McNugget Buddies.

The chicken nugget-shaped toys were first introduced back in 1988, and came back in six different outfits and backstories. New York City-based artist Kerwin Frost helped design the mascots and create a meal paired with the revived toys.
Before that, in October 2023, McDonald’s reintroduced their Halloween-themed pails: Boo Buckets. The trick-or-treat-friendly containers made their official return in the middle of October, after being introduced in 1986 and brought back in 2016 and 2022.
