Celine Dion has made it clear that her music will not be used to support Donald Trump’s political rallies. The Canadian singer took to Instagram to address the unauthorized use of her song “My Heart Will Go On” at a recent campaign event.

Dion, along with her management and Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., expressed their disapproval after discovering that a video of her performing the song was played during a Trump rally in Montana. Her statement emphasized that this usage was unauthorized and not endorsed by Dion. She also added a touch of humor, questioning, “…And really, THAT song?”
The track, famously known as the Oscar-winning theme from James Cameron’s 1997 film Titanic, has become an iconic symbol of the film’s tragic love story. The choice of this particular song at a political event was not lost on many, with some social media comments humorously suggesting that it fit the “sinking ship” theme of Trump’s campaign.
This incident isn’t the first clash between Dion and Trump. She had previously been approached to perform at Trump’s 2016 inauguration but declined the offer. Reports indicated that although casino mogul Steve Wynn hinted at booking Dion for the event, no specific commitments were made, and the inauguration featured other performers like 3 Doors Down and Toby Keith.

Dion’s reaction joins a growing list of artists who have publicly criticized Trump for using their music at his rallies without permission. Earlier this year, the estate of Sinéad O’Connor condemned the use of her hit “Nothing Compares 2 U” at Trump events, expressing how she would have been deeply offended by this misuse of her work. Other musicians who have voiced their disapproval include Pharrell, Adele, Guns N’ Roses, and many more. Despite these protests, Trump has continued to feature their songs at his events.
