Mariah Carey reportedly did not stay in contact with her sister Alison during the final month of Alison’s life, despite being informed that she was dying, according to a friend of Alison’s. Dave Baker, who was close to Alison for many years and helped care for her in her final days, shared insights into Alison’s last moments in an interview with The Sun.

Both Alison and Carey’s mother, Patricia, passed away on the same day over the past weekend. “Alison was unhappy that her ‘baby sister’ had cut off contact with her,” Baker mentioned. “She often talked about it and wondered if Mariah or any family members would attend her funeral. I hear that a memorial service is planned for a future date, but nothing is set right now.”
Baker also alleged that Carey “never tried to reach out to Alison, even after being informed a month ago that Alison was dying.” He added, “A phone call or, better yet, a video call would have meant the world to Alison. But it never came.”
He criticized Carey’s response to her sister’s death, stating, “Now Mariah says she is ‘heartbroken’ over the loss of her mother and her ‘ex’ sister. That kind of cold rejection only added to Alison’s pain.” Baker also revealed that “Alison was on home hospice care for the last three weeks of her life” and suffered from issues with her internal organs. Reflecting on Alison, Baker said, “Underneath a tough exterior, Alison was incredibly intelligent, warm, and sensitive. I knew her for nine years, and as her friend, and recently as her caregiver, I will miss her deeply.”

Alison’s well-known struggle with addiction reportedly led Carey to distance herself from her sister. Sources told TMZ that the singer felt she needed to show her sister “tough love” to avoid enabling her behavior. According to these sources, Carey had previously tried to support Alison both emotionally and financially, but her efforts had little success.
Although Carey reportedly did not maintain contact with Alison during her final days, she spent the last week with her mother, Patricia, who was also dying, as reported by TMZ. Alison was 63 and Patricia was 84 when they passed away. The causes of their deaths have not yet been disclosed.
Following their passing, Carey released a statement on Monday, August 26, saying, “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend.” She continued, “Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day. I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

Following these revelations, Alison filed a lawsuit against Mariah, claiming “intentional infliction of immense emotional distress” caused by what she described as the singer’s “heartless, vicious, vindictive, despicable and totally unnecessary public humiliation” of her already “profoundly damaged older sister.”
