Rachael Ray’s latest Instagram video sparked concern among her fans after she appeared to slur her words while cooking. The 56-year-old celebrity chef shared the video on Monday to honor the late Tony Bennett by preparing one of his favorite dishes, ossobuco, a meal made of braised veal shanks served with polenta and bread.
In the video, Ray fondly recalled a time she hosted Bennett and his wife, Susan Crow, for dinner, a night she humorously admitted could have ended in disaster. “I had polished the floors in the kitchen because, well, Tony Bennett’s coming to dinner,” she explained. “I have to make sure the floors are perfect and the house is clean and everything is just amazing.” However, there was every chance of it going far as Bennett’s chair slid unexpectedly, causing him to fall and hit his head on her marble countertop.

Despite the incident, Bennett was unharmed and even enjoyed “double portions” of the meal. The legendary singer, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease seven years prior, passed away at the age of 96 on July 21, 2023.
While Ray’s story was touching, viewers were more focused on her speech in the video, leading many to express their worries in the comments. “I love you but are you ok? I’m seriously concerned,” one fan wrote. Another echoed, “Wait! What’s going on with Rachael Ray?” Some speculated about her well-being, questioning if she was slurring her words or if it was just their imagination. “Is she slurring or am I slurring?” a viewer pondered. Others expressed deeper concern, saying, “Rachel is in a bit of trouble?! I hope someone is just as concerned as I am?”

Not all comments were critical, though. Some fans defended Ray against the speculation. “She’s aging like the rest of us. Maybe she has a medical condition, maybe she is on medication. Regardless, no need to be mean,” one person commented. Another added, “She’s aging well the normal way, no plastic surgery or doing it like everyone else… get real people.” They appreciated Ray for staying authentic and not resorting to cosmetic enhancements. A supporter also chimed in, “My goodness, all you perfect people making the most awful, hateful comments. MOVE ALONG!”

Despite the flurry of reactions, neither Ray nor her representatives have addressed the concerns. Back in 2008, Ray did deal with a health issue when she underwent a minor surgery to remove a benign cyst from her vocal cord. At the time, her spokesperson, Charlie Dougiello, assured fans that the procedure was routine and would not impact her television appearances, stating, “Rachael is the picture of health. It’s a common in-and-out procedure that she will have in early December and it will not adversely affect any of her daytime show or Food Network tapings.”
While there is no official statement from Ray regarding her current health, fans continue to hope for the best and look forward to seeing her back in her usual vibrant form.
