Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday that it intercepted 144 Ukrainian drones during a large-scale overnight attack over nine regions, including the Moscow area. This operation, described by the ministry as a “terrorist attack using unmanned aerial vehicles,” saw extensive drone activity across western Russia, highlighting the escalating drone warfare between the two nations.

The ministry detailed the scope of the attack, stating that 72 drones were shot down over the Bryansk region, 14 over Kursk, 13 over Tula, eight over Belgorod, seven over Kaluga, five over Voronezh, four over Lipetsk, and one over Oryol. Additionally, at least 20 drones flew over Moscow.
In a tragic development, a drone struck a residential building in Ramenskoye, southeast of Moscow, resulting in the death of a 46-year-old woman—the first civilian casualty in the city from a Ukrainian drone attack. Three others were injured in the same attack, and 43 residents were evacuated to temporary shelters. Three buildings were damaged, with 54 apartments sustaining damage.
The drone strikes also disrupted operations at three of Moscow’s four airports. At Zhukovsky International Airport, emergency crews responded to drone fragments that fell on a runway. Another incident in Troitsk, a town southwest of the capital, saw drone debris hit a residential home, though no casualties were reported.
While Ukrainian officials have not commented on the attack, Kyiv has generally refrained from confirming or denying responsibility for strikes within Russian territory. This wave of drone attacks is part of the ongoing exchange of air and sea drone strikes between Russia and Ukraine.

In response, Russia continued its missile and drone assaults on Ukraine. Overnight, Ukraine’s air force reported that one Iskander-M ballistic missile, one Kh-31P anti-radar missile, and 48 Shahed attack drones were launched at Ukrainian targets. Thirty-eight of the drones were shot down, while others either exited Ukrainian airspace or were neutralized by electronic warfare measures.
Air raid sirens echoed across Kyiv early Tuesday morning, signaling a potential drone strike, as alerts were active in 13 regions across Ukraine.
