Desantis grows bolder, but it is not enough to face off against Trump. Maga backs Trump, although he makes some good points.
In a recent town hall event in New Hampshire on December 15th, Governor Ron DeSantis took a bold stance against both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. This move comes amidst criticism that DeSantis has not been assertive enough in challenging the leading contenders in the presidential race.
DeSantis is clearly showing a (very small) penalty with GOP voters because of Trump’s ceaseless, nonsensical attacks on him. Then he gets the auto-vote against him/for Biden because he’s literally the most attacked candidate in general right now. This happened in FL in 2021/22. Chris
DeSantis began by highlighting President Trump’s failed cabinet picks during his tenure and speculating on the challenges Trump might face in assembling a new cabinet in a potential second term, given the legal issues faced by his previous administration. The Florida governor went on to outline a series of unfulfilled promises made by Trump, including the pledge to build a border wall and the commitment to “drain the swamp.”
During his campaign, DeSantis criticized Trump for not taking a strong stance against what he referred to as “woke ideology” attacking American family values, specifically accusing Trump of being evasive on issues related to transgender ideology.
Massie posted the following. Seriously, does he and DeSantis really look at the crowd as enthusiastic for DeSantis?
We ended today with a bang at the gun range! There’s a lot of enthusiasm here on the ground in Iowa for Desantis, the most pro-2A candidate in the race for President. Ron and I took questions from the crowd for an hour. pic.twitter.com/CDzocMqO4L

DeSantis questioned Trump’s response when asked about transgender issues, noting that Trump’s answer lacked clarity. He further emphasized Trump’s potential lame-duck status, asserting that a second term for Trump would make him ineffective from day one, as he would be unable to serve two consecutive terms, making it easier for Democrats to reverse his policies.
You mean the Biden campaign, right? He’s the one who trails 4X indicted Trump by 4 (6 in the 7-way), Haley by 17, and can’t even beat DeSantis—the supposed failure—in the PV despite Trump’s nonstop attacks on him. Chris
Addressing the possibility of Trump losing the Iowa caucus or New Hampshire primary, DeSantis suggested that Trump would likely attribute any loss to election fraud, casting doubt on the legitimacy of the results.
DeSantis did not reserve his criticism solely for Trump; he also took swipes at President Biden. In a comparison between his own child and Biden’s son Hunter, he quipped about concerns over business deals and drug-related issues. DeSantis pledged to run a “G-rated White House” under his administration.
Further, DeSantis questioned the moral standing of both Trump and Biden on issues such as the release of records related to sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, advocating for greater transparency from elected officials.
The moment DeSantis announced his candidacy and there was no initial polling boost, that was the end. His campaign has always been dead. This is why it’s been so weird to me that Trump keeps his attention/attacks on him and not more on Biden. AZ Politics
Support for DeSantis was evident among attendees, with New Hampshire Senator Regina Birdsell expressing admiration for his “rock-solid” speech and aligning with him on issues like preventing China from buying American real estate. As a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, Birdsell highlighted her support for DeSantis as the only veteran in the presidential race.
Beth Schaer, a former Trump supporter, expressed her preference for a candidate with conservative values who can address the national debt. Schaer believes DeSantis is the real deal based on his track record in Florida.
How ironic that Ron and Casey DeSantis, both major control freaks, who fear that everyone is trying to steal from them, turned their political fortunes and millions over to perhaps the greatest gonif in American political history – Jeff Roe, who burned through millions, and has… pic.twitter.com/HBcYNciP1k

Even current Trump supporters, like Liz Barbour, acknowledged warming up to DeSantis. Barbour noted that while she still likes Trump, DeSantis is demonstrating a proven track record and a plan to restore the country.
I don’t like seeing the personal attacks between DeSantis and Trump supporters on social media. We will all have to work together in a couple of months to defeat Joe Biden. I know losing is very difficult for some Haley and DeSantis supporters, but lets avoid the hurt feelings! Brigitte Gabriel
Recognizing the challenge of catching up to Trump’s lead in national polls, supporters believe DeSantis has the time and energy to do so. They pointed out the advantage of DeSantis’s youth compared to Trump, who, if re-elected, would be 82 at the end of his term.
DeSantis, aged 45 with three young children, underscored his youthfulness by revealing he is still paying off student loans. This disclosure occurred in response to a question about preventing the “grifting of public office,” allowing DeSantis to connect with the audience and receive applause for his proposal to ban Congress members from trading stocks and revising their pensions.

Governor Ron DeSantis showcased his assertive approach in the New Hampshire town hall, challenging both President Biden and former President Trump while presenting himself as a viable candidate with a clear vision for the future of the country.
But let’s be real on it. The American people are firmly behind President Trump. With all issues and warts and problems of the past, we all know who won the 2020 election. We know DeSantis betrayed Trump and listened to the Deep State. MAGA is not forgiving. It is Trump or no one for the vast majority of MAGA voters. It would be wise for DeSantis and the Deep States next pawn to go after Trump, Haley, to recognize this fact.
