DeSantis should bow out, and beg MAGA for forgiveness for betraying Trump. His key staff jumps ship…
In a surprising turn of events, Jeff Roe, the lead strategist for the pro-DeSantis super PAC Never Back Down, announced his immediate resignation on Saturday. Citing a desire to eliminate distractions to the campaign, Roe’s departure comes on the heels of internal chaos within the super PAC, marked by a recent split and the emergence of a new Tallahassee-based pro-DeSantis super PAC named Fight Right.

The internal discord reached a boiling point as four top officials, including Never Back Down’s CEO Chris Jankowski and board chairman Adam Laxalt, had already resigned in November. The super PAC, though independent of Governor DeSantis’s campaign, has been a significant financial supporter.
Jankowski, upon resigning, alluded to issues extending “well beyond a difference of strategic opinion.” His position was temporarily filled by interim president Kristin Davison, who, along with two other top officials, was subsequently fired.

Roe attributed his resignation to comments made by the super PAC’s new chairman, Scott Wagner, in an article published by The Washington Post on Saturday. The article highlighted disagreements and turmoil between Never Back Down and DeSantis’s inner circle.
Wagner, addressing the situation, told The Post, “Following mismanagement and conduct issues, including numerous unauthorized leaks containing false information, senior officials were terminated.” However, a lawyer representing the terminated employees disputed this claim, calling the statement “categorically false.”

Following the dispute, Wagner revised his statement, acknowledging “opinions regarding mismanagement and conduct issues” and some officials parting ways due to concerns about unauthorized leaks containing false information.
In a response posted online, Roe quoted Martin Luther King, Jr., stating, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands in times of challenge and controversy.” Expressing his inability to stay affiliated with Never Back Down given the allegedly untrue statements made by Wagner, Roe emphasized the unwanted distraction during a critical time for Governor DeSantis.

The Washington Post reported that Phil Cox, a longtime DeSantis adviser, would step in as the chief strategist at Never Back Down in the final weeks leading up to the Iowa caucus.
Roe, reflecting on his time with Never Back Down, expressed pride in the team he helped build, referring to them as “political warriors” whose dedication over the past nine months contributed to Governor Ron DeSantis’s strong position. Despite the turmoil, Roe extended well wishes to DeSantis and his team for the remainder of the campaign.
