As Gun Control Is Reduced, Homicides Decrease
Jackson, Mississippi Murder Capital of USA Again for 2023. The city saw a decline in homicides in 2023 over 2022 [118 / 138], but it still has the highest murder rate of any city in the nation. But understand, the crime rates were caused by white flight, and not the other way around, says John T Ford. ‘Chicago politicians, stop bragging homicides are down – the murder rate is leading the nation, back the police- Chicago led nation in homicides for 12th year in a row in 2023, murder rate still 5 times higher than NYC’s’ , says Chief Thomas Weitzel. In a recent study, the United States witnessed a remarkable decline in its homicide rate throughout 2023, marking one of the most rapid drops ever recorded, according to the study’s author. While the cause of this decline is speculative, there’s a compelling argument that the elimination of stringent gun control measures may have played a pivotal role.
Nobody healthy wants violence but self defense is a human right. I got my carry permit last year. It’s still weird sometimes but I’m getting used to it- Stray Cat
The turning point came in 2022 when the Supreme Court issued a groundbreaking decision in the NYSRPA v. Bruen case. This case revolved around petitioners’ challenges in obtaining concealed carry permits in New York, where the “may issue” system made it notoriously difficult. The Supreme Court’s ruling stripped the state of the authority to deny concealed firearm permits to law-abiding citizens. Subsequently, there was a surge in concealed carry permit applications in states known for their strict regulations, such as Maryland, California, and New York.
#Chicago murder rate per 100K in 2023 was 2nd-highest among cities with 1.5M+ population.
And vs #NYC, Chicago’s rate was 5 times higher. If Chicago had the same rate as NYC, it would have had just 121 murders, not 617.https://t.co/05TTf3kihJ #twill @GovPritzker @chicagosmayor pic.twitter.com/Qnc0xXqJ2T

The surge in concealed carry permits had a significant impact, as it undermined criminals’ confidence in encountering unarmed victims. This shift in the balance of power may have substantially contributed to the nationwide decline in homicides. ‘NYC’s 2023 murder total the 8th lowest of the past 60 years down 11% from year before. That’s good! But murder total is still ~20% higher than in 2019, and nearly 4x higher than London’s murder rate. Even a “good” year in a relatively safe big U.S. city is unacceptably violent.’ said Chase Madar.
In the wake of the landmark NYSRPA v. Bruen decision in 2022, more Americans are receiving concealed carry permits and carrying their firearms.

Further enhancing the trend, more states, including Nebraska and Alabama, embraced constitutional carry laws in 2023, while Florida passed a law allowing permit less carry. Remarkably, these legislative changes occurred concurrently with a substantial decrease in the national homicide rate. This challenges the conventional narrative that stricter gun control measures are necessary for public safety.
In stark contrast, regions with stringent gun control laws, exemplified by Washington, D.C., experienced a 36% increase in the homicide rate.
This calls into question the efficacy of such strict regulations and prompts a reevaluation of laws to provide citizens with better means of self-defense against criminal activities.
Not really. States that have switched to permit-less carry have either seen no significant change or a drop in gun homicides rates. pic.twitter.com/3RH82m40dg

Even in California, a state known for its stringent gun ownership restrictions, the year 2024 began with the first mass shooting, as reported by The Gun Violence Archive. A case exemplifying this restrictive approach is May v. Bonta, which centers on California’s endeavors to further limit concealed carry. The state contends that allowing concealed firearms jeopardizes public safety. However, with millions of Americans already armed and carrying daily, the argument appears dubious.
Truth tells a MUCH DIFFERENTY STORY. Common thread to cities with highest murder rate…DEMOCRATS
Contrary to misconceptions, concealed carry permit holders are among the most law-abiding groups in the nation. The notion that individuals with government-issued permits to carry firearms pose a threat to public safety is not only misleading but lacks credibility. The focus should be on empowering citizens to exercise their Second Amendment rights without unwarranted restrictions imposed by certain states.
US has the 3rd highest murder rate in the world. If you remove: 1. Chicago 2. Detroit. 3. Washington DC 4. St. Louis 5. Philadelphia The US is then 189th out of 193 countries in the world. All 5 cities have strict gun control laws & controlled by Democrats.
"In 2023, most large U.S. cities saw a precipitous drop in the rate of homicides [but] 2023 was the District’s deadliest year since 1997, with 274 recorded homicides." https://t.co/F8dJusOUCv pic.twitter.com/0LCU3YK6B8

‘Democrats assert that guns must be banned federally by using the disproportionate murder rates in black inner cities where guns are already banned. White Americans have a murder rate on par with Canada. Children are just a convenient weapon for liberals’ – says Mike Ansley. In light of these developments, it becomes apparent that the narrative around gun control needs reevaluation. The decline in violent crime, coupled with the relaxation of gun control measures, challenges the conventional wisdom of the Left and calls for a more nuanced approach to ensure the safety and rights of citizens. As legal battles unfold in courts and legislative arenas, the commitment to safeguarding the Second Amendment against overreach remains steadfast. One thing is certain from the stats in nearly every city where tried: We can lower the homicide rate and overall crime rate by getting as many people as possible armed. This serves as the greatest deterrent to criminals who never know who may or may not be armed. This solution though would never work in Democrat cities as their goal is to disarm the population and leave all people at the mercy of criminals and the government.
