    Democrats want the border open for a number of reasons. The death to Americans thanks to Fentanyl alone is rubbing the American public the wrong way, in every state.

    Gluesenkamp Perez, who secured an unexpected victory in 2022, faced backlash for her remarks on Pod Save America in March. During the interview, she downplayed the significance of the southern border crisis, asserting that “nobody stays awake at night worrying about the southern border.” Instead, she emphasized that Americans are more concerned about personal issues such as their children’s well-being, potential relapses, school dropouts, or the risk of losing their homes.

    The timing of her comments, preceding the termination of the Title 42 public health order, has given Republicans ammunition to scrutinize her stance. Since then, the number of migrant encounters has surged to record highs, reaching over 302,000 in December alone. The overall encounters for Fiscal Year 2023 marked a historic 2.4 million, heightening concerns about border security and the strain on law enforcement.

    Republicans have underscored the significant increase in fentanyl seizures and the persistently high death toll attributed to the drug, sounding the alarm that overwhelmed border agents may be letting drugs slip through undetected. In 2021, over 107,000 overdose deaths occurred, with 75% involving opioids, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The Biden administration attributes the rise in drug seizures to improved screening and technology at ports of entry, advocating for additional funding to enhance these efforts.

    Furthermore, the NRCC criticized Gluesenkamp Perez for voting against the Republican border security bill, H.R. 2, which encompassed various measures aimed at curbing migrant releases and bolstering border security. Ben Peterson, an NRCC spokesperson, expressed concern over her apparent dismissal of the border crisis’s connection to the fentanyl epidemic and her reluctance to support comprehensive border security measures.

Notably, her office has yet to respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital seeking comment on the controversy.

    The backdrop of this controversy is a broader congressional negotiation over the White House’s request for $14 billion in border funding, forming part of a $105 billion supplemental request. Republicans are pushing for stricter limitations on asylum and releases into the interior, contributing to the ongoing friction between Texas and the federal government over authority in addressing the persisting crisis at the southern border.

    As the death count rises daily thanks to the open border, even with 95% control over media, the Democrats are losing support from all groups and racists, and in every state. The election in November may very well be a larger sweep than Reagan’s victory over Mondale. This, assuming we have a free and fair election, unlike 2020.
