    Congresswoman Cori Bush Faces Federal Investigation Over Campaign Expenditures and Security Spending

    In a recent development, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched an investigation into Representative Cori Bush (D-Mo.) for potential misuse of campaign funds. The 47-year-old congresswoman, a nurse and Black Lives Matter activist, confirmed the investigation in a statement on January 30, emphasizing her commitment to transparency and cooperation with the ongoing probe.

    The confirmation followed the House sergeant at arms’ announcement of receiving a grand jury subpoena, deeming it legitimate. While the DOJ has chosen to remain silent on the matter, Ms. Bush expressed her dedication to upholding the highest standards of integrity during the investigation.

    Elected in 2020 and successfully securing re-election in 2022, Ms. Bush’s campaign spending is now under scrutiny. The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust lodged a complaint, urging U.S. authorities to investigate the campaign’s allocation of $571,856 for security services, with a notable $338,193 spent in 2022 alone.

    As Collin Rugg said: ‘The Department of Justice is conducting a criminal investigation into Democrat Rep. Cori Bush for misusing money for private security. Gee, who could have seen this coming? “’Rep. Bush’s campaign may have made payments for services that were unnecessary or above fair market value because of her personal relationship with the payee,” FACT executive director Kendra Arnold said in a complaint. The funds in question allegedly went to her now-husband who she claimed was private security. Below is Bush telling Americans to “suck it up” while arguing for defunding the police while increasing her own private security. She also has no idea how taxes work.     The complaint raised concerns about payments made to Courtney Merritts, a recipient of campaign funds for security services. Local reports indicate that Merritts lacks a St. Louis private security license and is not registered in the database for licensed individuals in the Washington area. Adding a layer of complexity, Ms. Bush married Merritts in 2023 and allegedly began a relationship with him in 2021.

    Federal regulations expressly prohibit the use of campaign funds for personal purposes, including payments to family members not providing bona fide services to the campaign. Kendra Arnold, executive director of the watchdog organization, emphasized the need for an investigation, suggesting that payments might have exceeded fair market value due to Ms. Bush’s personal relationship with the payee.

    Ms. Bush defended her campaign’s expenditures, citing threats she faced even before assuming office. As a rank-and-file member of Congress, she clarified that she used campaign funds for security services, not federal tax dollars, debunking allegations of using public funds for personal security.

    Courtney Merritts, the alleged recipient of campaign funds, has yet to provide a comment on the matter. Recent reports unveiled that the grand jury subpoena, disclosed by the House sergeant at arms, is part of a broader investigation into a member’s security-related spending.

    Deep State House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Sergeant at Arms William McFarland, appointed by Deep State Rep. Kevin McCarthy, have yet to comment on the unfolding situation. Rep. Pete Aguilar, chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, refrained from commenting, directing inquiries to the Justice Department.

    Ms. Bush revealed that she is also under investigation by the Federal Election Commission and the House Ethics Committee. While the Office of Congressional Ethics recommended dismissing the case, the House Ethics Committee’s investigations typically require several months for completion.

    Addressing the payments to her husband, Ms. Bush asserted their legality, stating, “In accordance with all applicable rules, I retained my husband as part of my security team to provide security services because he has had extensive experience in this area and is able to provide the necessary services at or below a fair market rate.” She continued to pay Mr. Merritts even after their marriage, with recent payments categorized as wage expenses instead of security services.

    Ms. Bush’s defense of her significant private security spending, while advocating for reduced funds for police departments, has sparked controversy. In a 2021 interview with CBS, she passionately argued that the expenses were necessary for her safety and the ability to advocate for crucial issues without compromising her well-being.

    As the investigations unfold, the public awaits the outcome of the inquiries by multiple federal entities, which will determine the implications for Rep. Cori Bush and the trajectory of her political career. We all know the Deep State ultimately will decide her fate. As A Democrat darling, we expect a minimum in penalties as only Republicans and Conservatives, and definitely anyone who is America First would be penalized to the full extent of the law, in her shoes. It pays to be a Democrat or Marxist in America in 2024.
