Now it looks like all cases are going past the election. Not a good sign for the Democrats
Former President Donald Trump finds himself entangled in a protracted legal saga as his federal election case remains on hold for an unprecedented 50 days. The delay is a result of Trump’s appeals to a higher court, arguing that he is immune from prosecution. CBS News said ‘U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan on Friday officially tossed out the March 4 trial date in the federal case against former President Donald Trump related to the 2020 presidential election as higher courts consider his broad claim of immunity.’

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, on December 13, 2023, pressed pause on the election case in Washington, hinting on multiple occasions that the initially scheduled March trial date might not proceed. She also imposed a halt on significant motions from both President Trump’s attorneys and federal prosecutors.
The case’s fate hinges on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals determining whether the former president is immune from criminal prosecution. Trump’s legal team contends that his post-2020 election activities were within the scope of his official duties.

The timeline for a decision from the appeals court remains uncertain, and legal experts suggest that Trump will likely escalate the matter to the U.S. Supreme Court once a ruling is issued. This potential escalation adds another layer of uncertainty to when the election case might resume.
“The timing of a decision by the panel will indeed be a critical determinant of whether the case can go forward expeditiously,” says Daniel Richman, a law professor at Columbia University. “Quite a few stars would have to align before the trial can proceed,” he adds.
Matthew Seligman, a former appeals court law clerk, emphasizes the lack of clarity regarding when the D.C. appeals court will reach a decision. He notes, “We’re not really close to a point where the judges in the majority would consider taking whatever measures they could.”
Senior Judge Karen Henderson, overseeing the panel, has voiced her opposition to an expedited timeline for the immunity case. Her stance, as the most senior judge, could influence the majority opinion or potentially lead to a delay if she dissents.
In January, Judge Chutkan indicated once again that the Trump trial date might face further postponement. She scheduled a trial for a Jan. 6 defendant in early April, suggesting a potential overlap or conflict with the March 4 date for Trump’s trial.

Special prosecutor Jack Smith anticipates Trump’s trial taking four to six weeks to complete, further complicating the scheduling conflict with the Jan. 6 defendant’s trial. Judge Chutkan had earlier mentioned the March 4 date as an extension to provide ample preparation time for both legal teams. That six week estimate is in his dreams as there are literally millions of documents in the case that would have to be reviewed. A team of 100 lawyers couldn’t do it in time. But that is part of the Deep State plan. To not allow Trump to even see and use evidence, as if we are already some Soviet dictatorship.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the trial start date, President Trump’s legal team retains the option to file objections to recent court motions by the special counsel. This possibility remains even if the D.C. Court of Appeals returns the case to Judge Chutkan’s jurisdiction.
Legal analysts, including a former federal prosecutor, express skepticism about the March 4 trial start, with some suggesting that the appeals process could extend for months. The prospect of the trial occurring before the November 2024 election appears increasingly unlikely, highlighting the impact of the extended legal proceedings on the political timeline.
The DC appeals court still hasn't issued a ruling on Trump's presidential immunity appeal. They're going slower than I thought they would and definitely slower than Jack Smith wanted them to.

In December, prosecutors acknowledged the case’s pause but affirmed their commitment to meeting court-established deadlines for a prompt resumption of pretrial proceedings upon the case’s return to Judge Chutkan.
President Trump, facing accusations of conspiring to overturn the 2020 election, vehemently denies the charges, characterizing them as politically motivated. This is a witch trial, plain and simple. A concoction of the Deep State Marxists looking to cement the fraudulent election of 2020 and keep power forever. The case is one of four criminal proceedings against the former Republican candidate as he seeks a return to the White House this year. Trump maintains his not guilty plea, asserting that the charges aim to tarnish him politically. We’ve seen the games played, the hiding of evidence and the scams of the Deep State. No one is fooled.
Additionally, Trump faces a civil lawsuit from New York Attorney General Letitia James and recently lost a defamation case, resulting in an $83 million verdict in favor of writer E. Jean Carroll. Trump denies the allegations in the defamation case, adding layers to his legal challenges. Let’s be real about that case, it is a total scam. No evidence, laws changed just to go after Trump, and the person who is getting the 83 million judgement doesn’t have that kind of persona to defame. Which is the whole case. Only in the minds of the Deep state can they get this all accomplished. That woman will not get one dime.
I for one, can’t wait for Trump to take office. The only way to stop this kind of lawfare is to return fire and go after the mall. Then they will want to stop this nonsense, but only then after they are the target of government overreach and persecution, as Trump is now.
